Course content
Term and development of logistics and definition of logistic management. Function of logistics in economy and in company. General logistic activities and costs. Customer service, increase in quality and performance. Logistic information systems. Electronic data interchange. Systems of decision support. Artificial intelligence and expert systems. Theory of stocks - conception and basic control. Methods of optimization of supply processes. Inventory management, forecasting. Transport - characteristic of carriers and transport services. Globalization of transport. Warehousing - functions, financial aspects, productivity. Material handling, packaging of goods and information technologies. Purchase - function and activities. Global logistics. Character of logistics in global markets.

Learning outcomes
The aim of subject is to familiarise students with basic logistics - basic terms, logistic activities and costs.
After passing this subject, the student has basic knowledge of the logistic activities and costs and their software support. The student knows basic methods of customer service and optimization and the student can apply. The student can calculate average physical stock, time of stock turnover and speed of stock turnover. He is well informed about issue of warehouses and planning of warehousing net, types of distribution channels. He knows basic types of handling equipment and transport means. Student orients in problematic of global logistics.
Prerequisites
It's expected, that the student knows basic of secondary mathematics and microeconomics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The student must prove during the semester and also by the exam, that he/she understands solved problems and the ability to calculation of issue of the logistic supply. The tutor will notify the concrete requirements to the students within the first week of the term.
