Course content
Term and development of logistics and definition of logistic management, communication specialization. Function of logistics in economy and in communication company. General logistic activities. Customer service, increase in quality and performance. Global aspects of customer service. Logistic information systems. Electronic data interchange. Systems of decision support. Artificial intelligence and expert systems. Theory of stocks - conception and basic control of stocks in postal services. Methods of optimization of supply processes. Inventory management of communications, forecasting, TQM. Transport - characteristic of carriers and transport services. Logistic management and transport management. Warehousing - functions, international aspects, financial aspects, productivity. Material handling, packaging of goods and information technologies. Purchase - function and activities. Control of costs and supplier's relationship. Logistic system of postal services - organization, strategy. Methods of control of logistic performance. Realization of logistic strategy.

Learning outcomes
The aim of subject is to familiarise students with basic logistics which orients to issue of communications. Clear basic terms, logistic activities and costs and this issue to fill in application of logistics in Czech Post.
After passing this subject, the student has basic knowledge of the logistic activities and costs and their software support with orientation to communications. The student knows basic methods of customer service and optimization and the student can apply. The student can calculate average physical stock, time of stock turnover and speed of stock turnover. He is well informed about issue of warehouses and planning of warehousing net, types of distribution channels. He knows basic types of handling equipment and transport means. The student orients in problematic of global logistics.
Prerequisites
It's expected, that the student knows basic of secondary mathematics and microeconomics

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The student must prove during the semester and also by the exam, that he/she understands solved problems and the ability to calculation of issue of the logistic supply. The student must demonstrate basic knowledge of logistics in Czech Post. The tutor will notify the concrete requirements to the students within the first week of the term.
