Course content
Basic vehicle models for an analysis of dynamic behaviour of rail vehicles Dynamic and mathematical models of vehicles, systems and their solutions Statistical evaluation of a stochastic process and its application in modelling vehicle dynamics Characteristics of a stochastic process Dynamic analysis of linear models, determination of values characteristics Model of a rail vehicle and its interaction with the track Criteria for evaluation of rail vehicle dynamics Evaluation of the running safety and running behaviour of vehicles Simulation calculations of rail vehicles Method of structural elements, solving motion equations by using the finite difference method Structure of a simulation program of a running rail vehicle Simulation of running on the straight track, vehicle running behaviour Simulation of vehicle running in curve, vehicle guiding behaviour Examples of the particular results of the simulation calculations of the vehicle running dynamics Summary

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Projection, Skills training
Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to acquaint students with the latest methods of rail vehicle dynamic behaviour analysis in the stage of design as well as evaluating its operation.
After completing the course the student is able to analyze dynamic behaviour of rail vehicles based on an assembly of a simplified dynamic and mathematical model of a vehicle.
Prerequisites
The subject enrolment for Erasmus students is possible only after approval of the lecturer/guarantor of the course based on a proof of previously taken courses and their content.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

Students have to demonstrate understanding of the lectured topics and ability to solve modelling problems of vehicle dynamics during the semester as well as at the final exam.
