Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Projection, Laboratory work
Learning outcomes
The objective of the subject is to broaden students' knowledge of theory and construction of overland transport means combustion engines and to acquaint students with development trends of combustion engines in the area of engine management systém and in the area of alternative fuel usage.
After passing the subject, the student masters the words of art typical for construction of reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines, s/he has knowledge in methods of boosting the engine power, s/he has a cursory glance into elementary kinds of ignition, knows the types of construction of fuel systems for both Petrol and Diesel Engines; s/he knows the types of construction of exhaust systems to reduce emissions; s/he knows alternative fuels and has a cursory glance into hybrid propulsions.
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge of theory and construction of Internal Combustion Engines for land means of transportation is expected.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The student must prove, during the semester and at the final examination, that s/he is able to make use of the knowledge acquired from theory and construction of reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines in solving practical tasks within the scope of the subject matter studied. The students will be informed about the specific requirements by the teacher in the first week of the semester.
