Course content
|
Vehicle frames and bodies. Rigid axles - driven, drive, steering. Swinging axle - driven, drive, steering. Vehicle wheel, rims, tyres. Leaf spring, spiral spring, torsion-bar spring suspension. Rubber, air, hydropnuematic, rubber- liquid suspension. Shock absorbers, stabilizers. Requirements on steering, steering geometry, steering mechanism. Steering parts, ball joints, steering rods, steering gearboxes. Steeering boosters, all-wheel steering. Kinds and constructions of drum and disc brakes. Hydraulic electronic brake systems of passenger cars, lorries, towed vehicle. Anti-lock brake regulating systems.

Learning outcomes
|
Subject objective is acquainting students with basics of structural design of road vehicle chassis particular parts, with their working, characteristics etc.
After complete the examination of this subject student is able to draw, describe and explain function of particular construction of vehicle frames and bodies, axles, wheels, rims and tyres, suspension, shock absorbers, stabilizers, steering and breaks. He is able to evaluate particular constructions from view of their functions and characteristics.

Prerequisites
|
Encompassment of mathematics, physics, technical mechanics and parts of machines is supposed.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination
During semester and also during final examination students must demonstrate understanding of all constructions and self-orientation in particular mechanism of car chassis problems to the extent of talked over subject matter. Concrete requirements will be told the students in the first week of semester.
