Course content
|
Road vehicles: - Assistance and information systems of vehicles. - Systems ABS, EDS, ASR, their function and design. - Systems of running gear adjustment, comfort systems. - Intelligent running gear, systems Steer-by-wire, Brake-by-wire. - Systems of gearbox control. - System of motor control. Rail vehicles: - Theoretical topics: wheel-rail contact analysis; running behaviour of rail vehicles in straight track and in curves; analysis of suspension systems of vehicles. - Design topics: modern trends in rail vehicles for regional, suburban and urban transport; new power units of electric traction and their utilization in driving systems; modern concepts of running gear of rail vehicles for specific utilization; running gears and bodies of vehicles for special purposes.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the study course is to provide further knowledge in design of modern vehicles and in theory relevant for their design and behaviour in operation. The contents of the course are adapted to the dissertation topic of the student.
The student gains further knowledge on design and/or theory of railway or road vehicles according to the topic of their dissertation.

Prerequisites
|
The student is expected to have knowledge in general technical subjects (mechanics, technical drawing) and basics of design and theory of road or rail vehicles.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation
Master advanced topics in theory, design, technologies and materials for vehicles (according to the focus of the course). The examination is oral and is in compliance with the Study and examination regulations of the University of Pardubice.
