Course content
DP-SV Orientation: Assistance and information systems of vehicles. ABS, EDS, ASR Systems, their functions and variants. Chassis control systems and comfort systems. Intelligent chassis of vehicles, STEER-BY-WIRE, BRAKE-BY-WIRE systems. Gear control systems. Engine control systems DP-KV Orientation: Development trends in rail vehicles in the railway, regional, suburban and urban transport. The conceptual solution of high-performance vehicles, specifically for high speeds as well as for freight systems of the Cargo type. The new power units of electronic traction and ways to build them in into the driving system. Current tendencies of the use of hydraulic turbo-systems for transfers of high performances in the diesel traction. Modern concepts of construction of traversing of rail vehicles in terms of specification of use. Development trends and weight decrease limits. Issues of upper comfort, active and passive safety features.

Learning outcomes
Orientation DP-SV: Current trends in construction of the road vehicles. Methods of constructional solution of the main groups of the vehicle. The basics of the virtual construction. Checking and solidity calculations of constructional components with the aid of modern computing methods. The use of non-traditional materials in the construction of vehicles. Alternative fuels, hybrid drives. Orientation DP-KV: Development trends and applied constructional solutions of modern vehicles. New conceptual solutions of vehicles for high speeds and the travelling comfort. The used and new systems in the sphere of the driving force transfer. The use of electronic driving systems. Increase of lifespan of the exposed parts of vehicles, decrease of the weight of vehicles through constructional and technological procedures. Using non-traditional materials in construction of vehicles. Forming the quality of the micro-climate of vehicles, evaluating the ride comfort. The trends in active and passive safety of vehicles, safety features.
After passing the course, student is able to orient in new trends in vehicle construction
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the theory of vehicles at the level of the Master degree study of the given branch. Knowledge and ability to apply mathematic methods and computing procedures in the issue related to the motion of vehicles.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

Ability to analyse the issue related to the motion of vehicle, ability to make use of theoretical knowledge in solving particular cases in the sphere of motion of vehicles. To deduce conclusions for the follow-up procedure of the solution. Elementary knowledge of the scientific approach towards solving the tasks.
