Course content
Division or sorting of the concrete structures. the principle of overall behavior of the structures from plain (mass) concrete, reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete. Components of the reinforced concrete, design characteristics of the concrete, reinforcement of the concrete structures and its properties. The overall fundamentals of the design of the concrete structures, preliminary design of load bearing components, loading and its position on the structure. Design of reinforced sections according to the classic theory - compression stress of axially loaded members, stresses in beams in pure bending, shear stresses in beams, stresses in beams under combined loading (normal force and bending), cohesion a torsion. Design of reinforced sections according to the "limit state design", types of limit states, general fundamentals of the design. Fundamentals of the design and reinforcing of the basic load bearing members. Pre-stressed concrete, principle of design and types of pre-stressed concrete systems. Concrete structures in a railway and highway construction

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
Learning outcomes
The students will get information about concrete, its components and design of concrete mixture and about design of horizontal and vertical construction members built from reinforced concrete, according to classic theory and theory of limit states and about principles of reinforcement detailing.
After graduation is student able to make ancillary laboratory works by classification concrete mixture. Student is able to design and solve horizontal and vertical construction element by limiting condition. Student know base for armouring horizontal and vertical elements.
Prerequisites
Student must have graduation in Strength of Materials II.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Exam from object (form, content, continuation) is fixed term conformable with educational and examination order.
