Course content
|
The origin and composition of soil, soil - particulate nature, multiphase system. Formation of soils. Clay minerals. Descriptive and index properties of soils. Filter, strain and strength parameters. Tension, stress, effective stress principle. Permeability, compressibility and strength of soils. Mohr's theory of infringement. Basic laboratory and field testing of soils. Solving application problems of soil mechanics - a slope stability, mechanics footings, earth pressures, filter stability of earth structures. Treatment of earth as a building material. Basic principles of geotechnical monitoring.

To familiarize students with geotechnics and the foundation engineering.
Students fill acquire knowledge in the field of soil mechanics.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
Credit is confirmed that the student attended full-time study at the required level of compulsory education and that it met the requirements, which was conditional on the granting of credit. Determines the conditions for credit instructors. The test of course (form, content, duration) is determined according to the study and examination rules UPa.
