Course content
History and Selected legislation and technical regulations. Basic concepts and terminology in underground engineering Classification of rocks and rock mass. Geotechnical survey of underground structures. Transverse section of railway tunnels Transverse section of road and highway tunnels Horizontal and vertical solutions for traffic underground structures. Static solution tunnel lining. Technological processes in the construction of underground structures. Observational methods for designing underground structures - new Austrian tunneling method, modern tunneling methods - using index classification. Equipping steel fiber reinforced shotcrete. Underground structures made from the surface. Construction steel reinforced concrete. Underground construction carried out in pits and pažených slope, special methods of construction of tunnels. Isolation of underground structures. Maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Safety requirements for tunnels.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the design and construction of underground structures.
After completing the course the student is able to focus on the basic problems of underground structures. Controls computations and can use software tools for the design of these buildings.
Prerequisites
Completed conditions: Fulfilling objects Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Assessment confirms that a student has attended the required level of compulsory education and that fulfilled the requirements with which the awarding. Terms of the credit determines the lecturer.
