Course content
1. Global tectonics, rock cycle in nature. 2. Magmatism - deep and vein bodies, volcanoes. 3. Metamorphism, sedimentology. 4. Stratigraphic laws, age in geology. 5. Structural geology - breaks, folds, seismic. 6. Weathering, erosion. 7. Surface water. 8. Groundwater. 9. Slope deformations. 10. Regional geology. 11. Engineering geology. 12. Mineralogy - nomenclature and classification of minerals, mineral formation, physical properties, crystallography 13. Petrology and Petrography - origin and distribution of rocks, properties of rocks, rock structure

Learning outcomes
To teach students basic knowledge of geology and petrography (basics of mineralogy, petrology and petrography).
After completing the course the student is able to identify and classify basic rock-forming minerals, basic igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks, is able to work and orientate on geological maps and charts.
