Course content
1. Pilot tunnel, pilot adit, exploration for underground structures, Classification of rock mass, Discontinuity, Core drilling, Squeezing of rock, Rock desintegration 2. Line structures, linear structures, design technical parameters 3. Physical and mechanical properties of rocks 4. Laboratory tests of rock mechanics 5. Strength of rock mass, Plastic deformation of rock 6. Preliminary static evaluation, preliminary structural analysis 7. Empirical calculation, Deformation parameters, Ground arch, rock arch 8. Mined tunnel, Overfilled tunnel, false tunnel, static solution 9. Rock environment, NATM, Fenner-Pacher curve 10. Plastic deformation of rock, Failure zone, Settlement trough, settlement crater 11. Learning outcomes
The aim is to introduce students to the design and construction of underground structures.
