Course content
Serviceability, road function in the territory, design and evaluation criteria of transportation Traffic volume, types of relations, source-destination, position of routes in the territory, hierarchy and road network structure. Basic concepts of urban planning, Spatial Planning Documentation (ÚPD) and its types, Construction Law, tools of Spatial Planning (ÚP) History of urbanization-settlement, terms residents and region, Large-scale Territorial Unit (VÚC), settlement structure in Czech Republic General trends of urbanization, sustainable development, principles, enclosures of Transport solution of Spatial Planning + individual task assignment Examples of Spatial planning solutions, road network, source-destination Technical infrastructure, spatial layout, land recycling, change of function, brownfields, database, Construction and Road Law, road classification, road components and accessories Protection zone and road plot, construction and traffic-technical condition of roads The procedure of solving the transportation issue in general, the relation of city size and mode of transport, induced traffic, road network capacity and traffic level of service (traffic quality) system Network design and division, hierarchy, types of road networks and their elements, examples, traffic segregation Urban landscape, elements, street space, urban roads function, peculiarities of operation and construction Input data, traffic analysis, surveys, National Traffic Survey (CSD), traffic prognosis ORD, goals, means, examples, traffic calming, EI.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Contact teaching - 14 hours per semester

  • Preparation for an exam - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with basic knowledge of urbanism in relation to transport structures and neighbourhood including transportation planning.
After completing the course, student gain basic knowledge and skills in the field of urbanism and transportation planning.
