Course content
|
Introduction to Transport Infrastructure. Roads: legislation (project documentation and technical standards), administration and maintenance of roads - design of road pavements. Principles of road design - basic terminology, design speed, width of road category, horizontal and vertical alignment of routes. Design of road earthbody, road drainage system, safety devices. Intersections on highways, urban roads. Railways: Transport and its relationship to the environment, Railway transport and its basic definition, the railway network, Management, ownership, and basic regulations in the field of railway construction in the Czech Republic. Railway superstructure (railway track geometry parameters, superstructure part) Fundamental parts of the railway substructure and the railway substructure body. Interoperability, types of lines and tracks, grades of transitions, speed upgrades, transport and stations; stations (basic subdivision, tracks, headways, passenger and freight structures). Defects and failures and their diagnostics (railway superstructure, railway substructure, GPK), inspection and supervision activities, machinery and equipment, working procedures in maintenance, repair and construction of railway track. Bridges: Basic terms, types of bridges, terminology and EC design fundamentals. Structural parts of bridge (foundations, substructure, superstructure, equipment). Principles of bridge design, Loading of bridge structures. Road and railway bridges.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim is to teach students to perceive transport constructions from the perspective of technical transport engineer and familiarize students with terminology and design principles of roads, railways and bridges.
After completing the course the students have basic knowledge of terminology and principles designing of roads, railways and bridges.

|
Written examination
Elaboration and submission of all tasks assigned on the LMS Moodle. Passing the credit test.
