Course content
Introduction to safe road design. Safety as a criterion in road design. Tools for safe infrastructure: Defining road safety. Road safety audit process. Road safety audit inspection process. Accident rates, indicators, statistics, and influencing factors. Methods for surveying conflict situations. The self-explaining road and methods to achieve it. Barrier-free access design on roads. Space requirements for the integrated rescue system. Conducting road inspection and survey. Application of traffic calming measures in cities. Final summary.

Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with the issue of road safety assessment using accident indicators and the theory of proactive conflict situations, as well as tools for enhancing road safety and its immediate surroundings, with the aim of creating self-explaining and forgiving roads.
Students will expand their theoretical knowledge and gain new practical experience in the field of road safety assessment and the road safety audit process.

Basic knowledge of road design.
