Course content
1. Substructure, geotechnical and geological survey of the future construction site. 2. Laying out of construction. Foundation pit, geometric plan, selection of construction site, load distribution in the foundation soil. 3. Types of foundations of buildings, construction of foundations, modifications of horizontal foundations, deep foundations. 4. Waterproofing and anti-radon protection. 5. Thermal protection. 6. Vertical structures of wall, horizontal bearing structures. 7. Slab construction of ceilings, principle, solution, vaults, wooden ceilings. 8. Reinforced concrete ceilings, prefabricated reinforced concrete ceilings, ceramic ceilings, metal ceiling structures. 9. Expansion joints of load-bearing structures. 10. Principles of design, structural design of expansion joints. 11. Classification of staircases, basic requirements for staircases, functional requirements for staircases. 12. Flat roofs, functional requirements, implementation errors, details solving. 13. Sloping roofs, use of attic, functional requirements and requirements for coverings according to the type of materials. Assessment of basic types of roofs, structural design.

Learning outcomes
To acquaint students the basic knowledge of building construction. Within the course students get a general overview. Students will learn to understand and use knowledge of building construction.
After completing the course, student will gain basic knowledge and skills in the field of building construction.
