Course content
Introduction to general system theory - system characteristics, system controlling and it's modes. Models - verbal, mathematical and simulation. Concept of entropy and its meaning. Network systems. Transport systems - discrete and continuous. Demand after services of transport system. A priori and a posteriori demands. Discrete model of demand. Transport batches and their surveying. Mathematic and simulation model of free and intruded transport flows. Flow of passengers. Flow of vehicles on a road. LOGIT and nested LOGIT. Continuous model of transport demand. Origin and destination flows (Trip generation) - surveying. Trip distribution, OD matrix, surveying. Problem of transport mode choice, so called modal split. Other models for modal split. Traffic assignment (assignment of flows to links of network). Surveying. AoN (All or Nothing) models. Passing of vehicles through the junction in the cases of different organization of traffic. Time losts of vehicles. Evaluation by using of a simulation model. Optimal density of transport network and determination of this density. Problems of selection of an optimal sub-network. Problems of selection of network elements. Distribution (location) of public transport stops.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
Learning outcomes
The target of the subject is to allow getting of detail knowledge about input processes to transport network and about such modifications of transport networks, which allow optimization of processes in transport network. Students are also informed about necessary knowledge from general system theory.
Ability using of optimization methods and models in transport systems.
Prerequisites
unspecified

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Conditions for acquiring the subject examination are stipulated by the teacher. The examination in the subject (its form, content and duration) is determined in compliance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of Pardubice."
