Course content
Relational database. Database server. Table. SQL language. Models DDL, DML. Basic commands. Basic data types, operators, SQL functions. SELECT command. Projection. Restriction. Inner join, Outer join. Aliases. Group aggregation. Sorting query. Nested query. View. Sequence, Transaction. SQL*Plus Language. PL/SQL procedural language. DBMS_OUTPUT unit. Cursors, procedures, functions, triggers. Primary key, index. ER-diagrams, UML diagrams. Normal form. Time reserve.

Learning outcomes
The main objective is to familiarize students with SQL databases. After the course, students should be able to work with certain database software (Oracle).
The student controls the majority of the database functionality of Oracle upon the completion of the course. They can define and solve their own routine work in Oracle. The student also can use the language SQL and PL/SQL.
Prerequisites
Passing the course Database Systems I and knowledge of structured programming.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Creative work analysis, Discussion

Given assignment confirms that a student has attended lessons to the extent required and fulfilled qualified requirements. Conditions for credit are: active work at exercises, min. 75% presence, 2 examinations on computer, student passes if he/she obtains 50 points of 100 possible. Form, contents and length of the exam are determined in accordance with Study and Examining Rules of University of Pardubice. The exam consists of two parts, a written test and a theoretical exam. Student passes successfully the computer test as well as the theoretical part of exam if he/she obtains at minimum 50% of possible points in each part.
