Course content
Mechanical gears- mechanical gears with force and shape binding characteristics. Shaft and axles - constructional and strength design of solid and hollow shaft, materials. Bearings - friction and roller bearings - design, materials, calculation method. Springs and flexible bindings - steel suspension elements, properties and calculation. Non-metallic suspension elements, properties and calculation. Toothed wheels - dimensional parameters of spur gearing, kinematical relations at meshing, evolvent. Correction of spur gearing, corrected pair of gears geometry. Conical and worm toothed wheels and pair of gears. Screwed joint - force relations, self-locking, Initial tension screwed joint calculation. Wheel and shaft connection by chock, by slip tongue and by splining - calculation. Pressed and clamp joint. Welded joint - weld types, bearing weld calculation, deformation and stress. Shaft uncontrolled couplings. Elastic and rigid couplings design. Time allowance - summary of talked over subjects and explanation of more difficult issues.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the lessons is to introduce to basic constructional elements using especially for transport means and equipment, to explain their properties and function principles and to teach students to perform necessary calculations associated with machinery design and material selection.
After completing the course the student controls the issue of machine parts used in the field of transport machinery and equipment in terms of design, materials and technology, assembly and disassembly. It can analyze the external effects acting on the components and these can then be properly dimensioned.
Prerequisites
A precondition for successful completion of this course is a very good knowledge of the substance from the articles I Mechanics, Kinematics, Mechanics II, Strength of Materials I and Material Science.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The requirements will be defined by lecturer
