Course content
Introduction, definitions and terms. Demography and geography of inhabitants. Urban geography (geography of sites and towns). Political geography. International integration. Geography of choices. Globalization. Agricultural geography. Production and industry geography. Transport geography and the range of its research. The transport characteristics as a part of worldwide economics. Brief transport geography history. Transport path and line. Transport spots. Transportation network and its structure features. The history of transportation network. Physical-geographical factors of chosen kinds of transport. Transport systems and their spread in the world. Transportation network in developing countries. Road transportation characteristics as a part of a worldwide transportation system. Specials of the road transportation. Rail transportation characteristics as a part of a worldwide transportation system. Specials of the rail transportation. Inland water and maritime transportation characteristics as a part of a worldwide transportation system. Specials of inland water and maritime transportation. Air transportation characteristics as a part of a worldwide transportation system. Specials of the air transportation. Work with the map. How to measure on the map? GPS navigation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to introduce students into the basics of demgraphy, urban geography, and other fields of economic and transport geography. Very important part of the subject is transport geography with basic introduction to graph theory and operational research.
After passing the subject, the student is able to orientate in problem of geography of World, Europe and the Czech Republic, both economically and transport too.

The obtained course credit confirms that the full-time student attended the lessons in the required amount, that he/she met the requirements for acquiring the course credit. Conditions for acquiring the course credit are stipulated by the teacher during the first week of the semester lecture period.
