Importance of material handling in transport chains, external and internal transport. Basic material handling knowledge. Material flows in logistics chains. Cranes. Industrial Trucks. Conveyors. Pneumatic transport systems. Cableways, lifts. Specialized material handling equipment. Warehouse management and planning. Storage of diferent materials. Warehouses with racks.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to introduce ways and conditions of material handling and warehousing.
After passing the subject, the student is able to orientate in problems of material handling and warehousing. Student is able to choose suitable handling facility for given kind of material and is also able to determine sufficient number and delivery of manipulation facilities.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
The obtained course credit confirms that the full-time student attended the lessons in the required amount, that he/she met the requirements for acquiring the course credit and may proceed to take the examination. Conditions for acquiring the course credit are stipulated by the teacher during the first week of the semester lecture period. The examination in the subject (its form, content and duration) is determined in compliance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of Pardubice.
