Course content
The role of railway transport in transport system. Freight transport transportation systems, technological processes in marshalling yard. Accumulation of wagons. Optimisation of wagon order in train (composition of train). Capacity of marshalling yard. Optimizing of wagon and train service in transport node/marshalling yard. Analytical and simulation approach. Hierarchic structure of freight train creation (wagon flows). Creation of train composition. Inputs and outputs of solution. Criteria for optimizing of creating of trains. Optimizing of transition of wagons in the transport nodes. Methods for calculation of railway line capacity. Time of occupation, time of gapes, distance between trains. Failures, primary and secondary delay. Type of measures for increasing of line capacity. Capacity of high speed railway lines. Systems of railway traffic control support of information systems. Systems of railway traffic control in irregular condition.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to inform students about the creation of technological processes in marshalling stations, organisation of cargo transport and ensuring of train transport in irregular conditions.
Student is able to propose and optimize technological procedures in stations and also on the whole network after absolving of the subject.
Prerequisites
unspecified

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

For students of the full-time study participation in an examination is conditioned by obtaining a course credit. The obtained course credit confirms that the full-time student attended the lessons in the required amount, that he/she met the requirements for acquiring the course credit and may proceed to take the examination. Conditions for acquiring the course credit are stipulated by the teacher during the first week of the semester lecture period. The examination in the subject (its form, content and duration) is determined in compliance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the University of Pardubice.
