Course content
|
Qualitative analysis - retention. Dead retention time and volume, mobile phase flow, pressure drop correction factor. Retention characteristics, absolute and relative correlations. Column characteristics - efficiency, number of theoretical plates, height equivalent of theoretical plate, resolution, separation number, required number of plates. Processing of TLC chromatograms. Processing of electropherograms and outputs from other electromigration techniques. Quantitative analysis in chromatography, electrophoresis, detector response, limit of detection. Working techniques of quantitative analysis.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to practice basic knowledge in the field of chromatographic and electromigration separation analytical techniques.
Couarse graduate is able to interpret chromatograms and electropherograms and process chromatographic data in terms of quantitative and qualitative analysis and evaluation of separation techniques.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge within the range of bachelor studies at FCHT is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
The assignment is granted upon a successful passing of a written paper - minimum is 50 %.
