Course content
|
Assessment of pH and conductivity. Assessment of turbidity. Determination of dissolved oxygen. Determination of total mineralization. Determination of COD(Mn). Determination of sulphates and chlorides. Determination of calcium, magnesium and their mixture (water hardness). Determination of nitrates. Determination of ammonia ions. Determination of phosphates. Semiquantitative assays of selected cations (e.g. ammonium, Fe(III), Mn(II), Zn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), As(III), Al(III) etc.) and anions (chlorides, sulphates, phosphates, sulphides, nitrates, nitrites, etc.) using colorimetric kits.

Students will determine selected criteria of water quality, which are important for fermentation technologies, in the laboratory.
Students will gain practical skills for performing the analysis of water.
