Course content
|
Principles of plant physiology. Composition and mineral nutrition of plants. Photosynthesis, respiration and water regime of plants. Bases of soil science. Genesis and development of soil, its properties and influence on plant nutrition. Water regime of soil. Fertilizers classification. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, behavior of N, P, K in soil and plants. Calcium and magnesium fertilizers, behavior of Ca and Mg in soil and plants. Multicomponent and microelement fertilizers. Organic and indirect fertilizers, soil conditioners, fertilizers based on renewable sources. Storage and application of fertilizers. Pesticides, their classification, application forms. Herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and other pesticides. Chemical and biological substances used for livestock nutrition. Mineral feeding supplements. Agroenvironmental agriculture. Fertilizer analysis, evaluation of their physical properties. Determination of ammonia, nitrate, amide and total nitrogen. Determination of phosphorus. Analytical methods and procedures for extraction of individual forms of phosphorus. Extraction and determination of various forms of potassium. Determination of calcium, magnesium, micronutrients (B, Co, Cu, Mn, Mo, Zn) and foreign elements (Cd, Cr, Pb, As, Hg). Soil analysis. Determination of carbonates, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, soil organic matter and sorption properties. Determination of ammonia and nitrate nitrogen, microelements and free forms of iron oxides. Plant analysis. Sampling, mineralization of plant samples. Determination of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Determination of sulfur, chlorides, nitrates and residua of pesticides.

Learning outcomes
|
Integration of knowledge obtained by students during their previous studies of chemical, biochemical and technological subjects, further improvement and application of them in agriculture at sustainable development. Broadening of knowledge in agricultural and analytical chemistry by methods of fertilizers, soil and plant analysis.
Graduate of the subject is equipped with a knowledge required on various working positions in agriculture, industry, research and development and other fields related to production and use of agrochemicals. He asserts in agricultural and agrochemical laboratories and in control and testing labs at organizations dealing with analyses of fertilizers, soils and plant materials.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of biochemistry, biology, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry and inorganic technology.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination
The subject is finished with an exam composed of written test and oral exam. Accession to oral part of the exam is possible only under condition correctly answered min. 50 % of the written test questions.
