Course content
|
The subject is closely focused on the evaluation of properties of inorganic pigments including their structural, physico-chemical and technological properties, whose summary and mutual relations between them are indicators of the quality of pigments in terms of their functionality. Attention will be paid to the basic properties of inorganic pigments, such as colour parameters and related criteria, gloss, particle morphology, refractive index and others, which are important in terms of dispersibility of pigments for different application media. Furthermore, the subject is focused on the characterization of pigments as special inorganic pigments. These include, for example, thermal stability, determining the suitability of pigments for high temperature applications in ceramic glazes and enamels, resistance to sunlight and weather conditions, corrosion inhibition indicators, or reflectance in the NIR, solar reflectance and others.
