The course will be conducted in the following four blocks. Block 1 (1st week) Cultivation of cells on special plastic - microtiter plates, plastic chambers for fluorescence microscopy, "coating" of plates with lysine/collagen. Block 2 (2nd week) Spectrofluorimetric detection of selected cellular parameters - intracellular glutathione concentration, determination of dehydrogenase activity, visualization of the cytoskeleton and cell nuclei. Block 3 (3rd week) Testing the cytotoxicity of model toxins including nanomaterials. Block 4 (4th week) Visualization of actin filaments and cell nuclei using fluorescence microscopy on model nanomaterials modified using the Atomic Layer Deposition method.

The course aims to introduce students to working with cell cultures at a basic level. Furthermore, it introduces basic methods for determining toxicity in vitro and visualizing cell structures. The course will take place in the first four weeks of the summer semester of the third year. Students will thus gain a practical basis for working with cell cultures before starting professional internships that directly follow this course in the summer semester.
