Course content
Clinical biochemistry as an interdisciplinary field, overview of biological materials examined in clinical biochemistry laboratories Quality control in laboratories of clinical biochemistry Internal environment, acid-base balance Ions and trace elements Amino acids, main proteins of interest Carbohydrates, diagnosis of diabetes Lipids, hyperlipidemia Non-protein nitrogen compounds Enzymes Blood dyes, hyperbilirubinemia Bone metabolism Hormones, vitamins Tumormarkers

Learning outcomes
The general aim of this subject is to evoke a complex image about modern diagnostic advances in laboratories of clinical biochemistry.
After completing the course, the student is able to orientate himself in the field of clinical biochemistry and diagnostics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

The exam is oral. The basic form of the exam is a discussion on selected topics. The degree of acquired knowledge is examined.
