Course content
Introduction - distribution of pharmacology, basic terms (curative substance - curative preparation - medicine). Medicine and curative preparation names, where to find information about medicines. Distribution of general pharmacology, classification of system pharmacology. Development of new medicines I. Modifications of chemical structure targeted to potential pharmacotherapeutic benefit. Examples of benefit of non-pharmacological braches (pathobiochemistry, clinical and pathological physiology). Pharmacological preclinic tests. Development of new medicines II. Toxicological tests. Alternative toxicological tests replacing animal models. Pharmacokinetics I. Cell membranes and barriers. Passing of medicines through membranes. Absorption a distribution of medicines. Pharmacokinetics II. Biotransformation of medicines. Excretion. Studies of medicinal generics. Pharmacodynamics. Specific and non-specific effect. Receptors. Agonist, antagonist, parcial and inverse agonist. Pharmacology of CNS I. Pharmacology of CNS II. Pharmacology of PNS. Overview of medicines affecting respiratory system. Chemotherapeutics. Overview of medicines affecting gastrointestinal system. Actual topic. Overview of medicines affecting cardiovasculary system.

The aim of lectures is to explain the basics of general (kinetics, dynamics and effect of drugs) and special (drugs for every system in human body) pharmacology.
