Course content
Week 1: General pathology - cell death, nomenclature, regressive changes, inflammation 2.-3. week: Tumor diseases (distribution, etiology, most common diseases, diagnosis, treatment) 4.-5. week: Pathology of the heart and blood vessels (atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, heart defects, arrhythmia, heart insufficiency, hypotension - shock states, hypertension) Week 6: Pathology of the digestive tract (peptic ulcer, cancer of the stomach and esophagus, malabsorption syndrome, peritonitis, sudden abdominal events, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis) Week 7: Pathology of the respiratory system (bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, respiratory insufficiency) Week 8: Pathology of the urinary system (glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, renal insufficiency, hemodialysis treatment) 9th week: CNS pathology (epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease, dementia, issues of the internal environment in unconscious patients) 10-11 week: Pathology of glands with internal secretion (pathology of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, endocrine secretion of the pancreas - diabetes mellitus)

Learning outcomes
The subject builds on the knowledge of physiology and provides an overview of the basic pathological conditions of the human organism, and concrete nosological units relating to individual organs are gradually discussed. Emphasis is placed on changes in the functions of individual systems that occur in various diseases, and the subject also introduces the symptoms, etiology, and pathogenetic mechanisms of basic diseases.
