Course content
Basic conception and problems of macroeconomics. Macroeconomic aggregates. Measuring economic activity. AS-AD model. Money and money market. Inflation. Unemployment. Trade-off between inflation and unemployment. Colloquium - macroeconomic aggregates. Economic growth and business cycles. Monetary policy. Fiscal policy. Incomes policy. Foreign trade and monetary policy. Colloquium - monetary, fiscal and other types of economic policies. International trade. The balance of international payments. Exchange rates. Government control of the economy. Government failures. Public choice. Final colloquium.

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The goal of lessons is to present for students basics of macroeconomics as a first step for understanding the elementary economic and national policy, function of the market mechanism and international trade. Traditional and current principles of macroeconomic theory are presented. The attention is paid to the macroeconomic policies that guaranteed fluent development of economy and long-term prosperity according to the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection.
After finishing are students acquainted with elementary economic and political consequences of macroeconomics. They are able to interpret economical-political steps of individual macroeconomic subjects and they are able to predict its influence on corporate level.
Prerequisites
Knowledge in mathematics on high school level is needed for study of the subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Self project defence, Presentation

The exam is combined. It includes written tests and projects. Level of acquired knowledge, approaches, as well as skills in practice application is examined. Emphasis is placed on ability to implicate theoretical knowledge to the practical level of socio-economical conditions in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
