Course content
Fundamental concepts of environmental economics. Degradation of environment and its consequences. Linkages between macro and microeconomics and problems of natural environment. Economic evaluation and natural resource pricing. Tools of environmental protection and their effectiveness. Project assessment - Use of Cost benefit analysis, Risk assessment Environmental policy of the Czech Republic. Instruments of the environmental policy. Environmental policy and business strategies. Instruments of business environmental policy. Case Study - Application of ecodesign principles, a voluntary environmental management tool, in the chemical industry company. Characteristics and basic economy and environmental linkages of some voluntary instruments. Global environmental problems. EU and its environmental policy. Students conference.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to familiarize students with the basic concepts and problems of environmental protection, environmental aspects of business activities and their management, and prepare them to solve some interdisciplinary management problems.
Student will understand the basic principles and instruments of environmental management and economics.
Prerequisites
To study the course, student has to have basic knowledge in mathematics, business economy and management on bachelor level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation

The exam has both oral and written part. Students also have to write and present the seminar work on a given topic.
