Course content
1. New horizons in heterogeneous catalysis - "single atom" catalysis, phonon, electro, photo and thermal catalysis in "green" processes for the production of valuable and industrially important chemicals and fuels 2. New methods of identification of catalytically active centers in advanced catalytic materials. 3. New porous materials for effective and energy-efficient separation and purification of substances. Inorganic, organic, and hybrid materials for molecular sieves, adsorbents, and membranes. 4. New trends in photocatalysis and new, advanced photo catalytically active materials 5. Possibilities of 3D printing in pharmaceutical technologies for targeted drug transport to different parts of the GIT and personalization of therapy. 6. Development of new dosage forms and physico-chemical modifications of API to increase the solubility of active substances. 7. Current trends and techniques in the study and description of transport phenomena (viscosity, diffusion) and physical properties in glass-forming materials and their use to describe structural relaxation (physical aging) and to prepare stable and ultrastable glasses. 8. Current trends and techniques in the study and description of the formation and growth of crystals in glass-forming materials and their use in practical applications (data recording and storage, solar panels, special glass-ceramics, special sensors). 9. New trends and challenges in the use of renewable resources. 10. The use of renewable raw materials for the preparation of various substances as a substitute for substances produced from fossil sources, especially oil. Various sources and options for conversion will be presented, including advantages and disadvantages.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with currently solved issues and new trends in research across the field of physical chemistry with a focus on scientific research topics developed at the Department of Physical Chemistry.
After completing the course, the student will get an overview of the current scientific issues in the field of physical chemistry and becomes familiar with the research issues solved at the Department of Physical Chemistry and the real form of scientific research.
Prerequisites
Student must evidence basic knowledge of chemistry.
