The course deals with the synthesis and behavior of inorganic and organometallic compounds. From all areas of inorganic chemistry, including related areas of catalysis, metalloproteins and bioinorganic chemistry, photochemical research, organometallic chemistry, solids, materials and nanoparticle chemistry, basic concepts are discussed and further elaborated. Emphasis is placed on knowledge of synthesis and mechanisms, structure, thermodynamics, kinetics, reactivity, spectroscopy and binding properties of important compounds. Emphasis is also placed on the application of inorganic compounds in all aspects of the chemical industry, including catalysis, materials science, pigments, surfactants, coatings, drugs, fuels and agriculture.
