Course content
Properties of radiation and light; sources of radiation; photographic instruments and optics; black and white and colour analogue photography; digital photography; scanners and digitization of images; colour reproduction by printing; basics of colorimetry; colour measurement and print quality control; introduction to colour management.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic physical, chemical and technological principles used in image reproduction.
After completing the course, the student will have basic theoretical knowledge that is essential for understanding reproduction processes in printing. The student will be familiar with basic light sources and their characteristics, methods of photographic image recording, and methods of color measurement and management.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Before oral examinations, students have to pass a short test. At the oral examination students select by random selection 2 questions. Through the exam, the examiner evaluates knowledge on topic of the course content.
