Course content
Introduction, origin and development of fonts, printing fonts, history of printing; Basic classification of printing techniques; Prepress operations: preparation of data for printing; Prepress operations: image reproduction, screening; Pre-press operations: colour reproduction, colour separation; Pre-press operations: preparation of the printing plate; Printing: flexographic printing and gravure printing; Printing: offset; Printing: screen printing and pad printing; Printing: digital printing techniques; Finishing: overview of finishing operations; Printing materials: paper; Printing materials: printing inks.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Demonstration
  • Preparation for a partial test - 9 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an exam - 26 hours per semester
  • Participation in classes - 26 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Introduction to the history of the field, basic concepts, procedures, materials and machines used in printing so that students are prepared to study other professional subjects.
Graduates of the course will gain basic knowledge about the field of printing, printing techniques and technologies. He/she is prepared to understand the interpretation in subsequent professional courses in the field of study Modern Printing and Visualisation Technologies.
Prerequisites
The course is intended for high school graduates.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Examination has test and oral parts. Gained knowledge is running tested 3 times in semester and at the end in examination test. Oral examination is discussion about chosen query. Whole classification includes: Running tests - 30 %, Ending test - 30 %, Oral examination - 40 %.
