Black and white photography Colour photography Mixing of flexographic inks and colour evaluation in CIELAB colour space Spectral measurements of colour stimuli and colorimetric evaluation in chromaticity diagram CIExyY Colorimetric evaluation in colour space CIExyY, determination of L*, a*, b* coordinates, evaluation of spectra Assessment of the quality of adhesive binding Print quality Determination of tonal value by optical microscopy and densitometry Lightfastness of printing inks Surface free energy of polymer films and their printability Lamination of printing sheets and evaluation of its quality

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Skills training, Laboratory work, Work-related activities
  • Home preparation for classes - 24 hours per semester
  • Excursion - 6 hours per semester
  • Participation in classes - 72 hours per semester
  • Preparation for laboratory work and processing of results - 48 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a final test - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
These laboratory tasks build mainly upon the Reproduction processes in printing technology, Technology of offset and digital printing and Technology of print finishing. The objective of the course is to deepen the knowledge by their practical use (knowledge, methods and instruments).
Student can measure parameters of printing quality with spectrophotometers (optical density, tonal value, trapping, printing contrast etc.) and by optical miscroscopy (tonal value). Student can prepare colour and also black and white photography. Student can evaluate quality of adhesive binding and lamination. Students will deepen their colorimetric knowledge of colour measurement and its evaluation in chromaticity diagram CIExyY and CIELAB colour space
Prerequisites
Knowledge of courses of Bachelor study program Graphic Arts and Printing Technology (Reproduction processes in printing technology, Technology of offset and digital printing, Technology of print finishing.).

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Discussion

Credit. Accomplishment of all laboratory practises, elaboration of protocols for each laboratory practise and control test (min. 50 %) at the end of semester.
