Course content
Literature search on the Internet, in electronic databases and the university library collections. Citation of literature. Writing of bachelor's thesis. Preparation of presentation. Lectures given by experts from printing industry and foreign universities about innovations in the branch of graphic arts and special technologies. Presentations given by students on selected topics from modern graphic arts.

  • Writing a seminar paper - 40 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop understanding of selected topics in the field of graphic arts through independent study of scientific literature in foreign language. Research is done using information available on internet, in electronic databases and university library. The course explains the principles of writing of bachelor's thesis, methods of searching information in printed and electronic sources and the issue of citation. The lectures are designed to prepare the students for the presentation of the bachelor work during school leaving examination.
On completion of this module the student will be able to work with foreign-language papers interrogate and evaluate published sources and based on them prepare a brief seminar presentation of appropriate form for their fellows.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of English or German language is required. Students should be able to understand of the content of scientific and technical foreign texts. Knowledge of the presentation (dataprojector) programs.

This module will be assessed through an translation on selected foreign-language (Germany, English) articles into Czech (or Slovak) language (50%) in the length of 8-10 pages (accuracy of the translation, terminology, content, used language, layout and typography) and a seminar presentation (50%, content, layout, ability to discuss about the presented issue).
