Course content
Job workflow. Definition of costs and prices of products (price estimation). Information systems and JDF format. Management methods, total quality management, statistical process control, analysis tools. Standards. Investment planning and realisation. Installation of machinery and devices. Printing plant planning. Work safety in printing plants.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop understanding of current concepts of management and control in printing industry, including quality evaluation and management, and respective legislation. The objective is to clarify organization and management fundamentals necessary for successful activity in printing business.
On completion of this course, the student is able to describe important aspects of job processing workflow and planning investments as well as printing plants, to determine product price based on costs, understands management methods and necessary tools, including the principles of total quality management, information systems and respective methods, standards and legislation.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of preceding courses, in particular Printing machinery I and II, Automation and control of printing processes, Business economics and management I and II, and Financial management.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

The course will be assessed through oral examination of selected topics proving an insight into course contents.
