Learning outcomes
Course is suitable for students with background in Printing Technologies, Graphic Arts and related technological areas. The aim of the course is to develop understanding of present typography and its historical development and to clarify dependence of typography, and graphic design generally, on particular technological conditions.
On completion of this course, the student will understand typographic terminology and embrace typographic rules as well as related legislation; student will be able to characterize and correctly use typefaces and other design elements of various types of printed products.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of mathematics, Czech language and graphic arts, basic computer skills.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The course will be assessed through an examination proving an insight into the complete course contents. The exam consists of three parts: two written tests and an oral exam, whereas 20% of an overall score corresponds to the 1st written test, 50% to the 2nd written test and 30% to the oral exam. The minimum of 50% score is required for passing each of the written tests. To attend the second and third part of the exam (the 2nd written test and the oral exam), passing the preceding parts is required. The minimum of 50% overall score is necessary to complete the course. More details will be given at the lectures.
