Literature search on the Internet, in electronic databases and the university library collections Study of scientific literature Requirements on scientific papers: creation of abstracts, citation of literature, preparation of publication and presentation Presentation and discussion

Learning activities and teaching methods

  • Writing a seminar paper - 8 hours per semester
  • Participation in classes - 20 hours per semester

  • Preparation of a presentation (report) in a foreign language - 32 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop an understanding of selected topics in the field of graphic arts through independent study of foreign-language scientific literature. The work utilises the information available on the Internet, in electronic databases and university library collections. The objective is to clarify the requirements on scientific papers and their preparation for both print and oral presentation.
On completion of this course, the student is able to search the scientific literature, understands the terminology in given field and has improved writing and speaking skills in a foreign language. The topic of the semester project can be further developed in diploma thesis.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of courses of Bachelor study program Graphic Arts and Printing Technology. English or German speaking skills on at least upper-elementary level.

Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Oral performance analysis, Presentation

To complete the course, the student has to elaborate a seminar exercise and the main semester project. The course is assessed based on the prepared abstract (10 %), scientific paper (55 %) and final presentation of the project in English or German (35 %).
