The course Paints for surface protection of materials introduces the composition and important components of selected types of paints, which form after application and drying a defined coating on a given surface or substrate. Examples of paints and systems for a specific substrate material, application or environment are given. Paints intended for surface protection of metal construction materials, mineral substrates, especially concrete, facades, plasters and wooden surfaces are described. The principles of paint formation, binders, pigments, fillers and additives necessary for a given type of paint are described and the effects on the resistance of paints are given.
After completing the course, the student is able to participate in work in research institutes and in companies engaged in production and applications with a focus on paints and organic coatings.
