The course introduces the basics of coatings technology for functional and aesthetic surface protection of materials. It presents the technology of coating production, coating technology and the creation of organic coatings using coatings. Technologies for surface pretreatment procedures and selected technologies for duplex and other coatings are discussed. Emphasis is also placed on the selection of basic raw materials and additives in relation to the various types of coatings.
The student will be able to assess coating systems, perform analysis and evaluation of surface treatment coatings, design methods of coating applications.

Prerequisites
Knowledge of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, basic knowledge of physical chemistry-secondary level.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation
Examination and preparation of a seminar paper on a given topic in the field of coatings technology. The examination is oral. The basic form of the examination is a debate on selected topics. During the semester, the knowledge is tested by a test, the result of which is included in the overall classification.
