Course content

The subject acquaints with the course of corrosion processes in the atmosphere, waters, soils and other corrosive environments. The mechanisms of electrochemical, chemical and physical corrosion are explained in detail. Corrosion processes not only in metals, but also in polymers, ceramics, glass and other materials are not discussed. Emphasis is also placed on methods and procedures used to investigate corrosion processes and manifestations. Furthermore, the principles and possibilities of corrosion protection are explained, including procedures for designing comprehensive corrosion protection.Students are introduced to the corrosion characteristics of selected commercially used materials.
