Week 1: Experiment planning I - quantitative review of relevant literature Week 2: Experiment planning II - definition of the research aim, design of the pilot experiment Week 3: Experiment planning III - optimization techniques, optimization parameters Week 4: Experiment planning IV - design of the final experiment, testing of hypothesis Week 5: Colloquium I - pilot experiment data analysis Week 6: Laboratory documentation I - laboratory diary, e-tools for the data store and analysis Week 7: Data analysis I - errors, probability theory Week 8: Data analysis II - regression analysis, calibration, limits of detection Week 9: Colloquium II - real data analysis Week 10: Data presentation I - poster. lecture Week 11: Data presentation II - scientific language Week 12: Data presentation III - manuscript, peer-review process Week 13: Colloquium III - student manuscript presentation

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to equip students with key competencies that will enable them to plan and evaluate the experiments within their own research activities and to critically evaluate and communicate the obtained results.
Based on the quantitative analysis of available literature, the student should be able to independently plan his own experimental activities so that he can achieve results with the maximum informative value with a minimum of time and financial costs. They should be able to evaluate these results, put them in the context of the relevant field of science and communicate effectively with colleagues.
