Annotation: In the first part of the subject, general concepts of toxicology are briefly explained. Attention is paid namely to description of particular steps, which are involved in interaction of toxic substance with human body (concept ADME - absorption, distribution, metabolic conversion, excretion) and to explanation of main biochemical mechanisms of toxic effects. Subsequently, the construction and interpretation of dose-response curves is described. Introductory part is closed with problematic of laboratory metods for toxicity testing. Integral part of subject is excursion in toxicology laboratories of our industrial partner CETA-VUOS. Second part of the subject is devoted to problems of risk analysis and risk management and to interaction of industrial toxicology with these processes. Basics of epidemiologic approaches in industrial toxicology are explained. Last part of the subject is oriented on description and discussion of real problem from industrial toxicology area, which is connected with home country of the student.
