Characteristics of simulation problems. Types of simulation problems: open simulation, controlled simulation. Methods of the calculation. Transformation of of open simulation to sequence calculation. Tearing the circuits. Dynamic simulation. Proffesional Software of the firm ASPEN Technology, Inc. Optimization problems and their formulation. Linear and non-linear programming. Univariante minimization. Multivariante minimization.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Work with text (with textbook, with book)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to make students acquainted with simulation and optimization calculations focused on chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries, where physical and chemical processes can be encountered.
After this course, the student is able to solve complex proceses of chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries at steady and unsteady states. Moreover, he is able to find such parameters of the processes, at which an optimum exists.
Prerequisites
Chemical engineering I, Chemical engineering II

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

There is an oral examination. The primary form is a debate about selected themes. The level of acquired knowledge, conceptions and application acquirements is examined. Knowledge is examined by solving a project during the semestr and its result is included into the total classification.
