Course content
General tools of environmental protection - economic, legal. General tools of environmental protection - voluntary, analytical tools EMS. Evaluation of environmental impacts. LCA method. Definition of objectives and scope of the LCA study. Inventory Analysis (LCI). Impact assessment (LCIA) - inputs. Impact assessment (LCIA) - outputs: global warming, loss of stratospheric ozone, formation of photooxidants, acidification. Impact assessment (LCIA) - outputs: ecotoxicity, toxicity, loss of raw materials, reduction of biodiversity. Life cycle interpretation and critical review of the LCA study. Information sources, software tools. Use of LCA studies. LCA Modification (Life Cycle Costing, Life Cycle Engineering, Social LCA, Carbon Footprint)

Learning outcomes
To get acquainted with the concept of Green chemistry and possibilities of environmental impact assessment of chemical and other production technologies and products to the Environment.
Students are able to orientate themselves in the field of environmental impact assessment of chemical and other production technologies and products and to prepare life cycle study.
Prerequisites
Knowledge in basic chemical technology fields.
