Lectures and exercises Week 1-2 Sampling - general characteristics, specific procedures for air and water sampling. Week 3 Sensory properties of water and their determination. Week 4 Volumetric methods in environmental analysis - determination of selected parameters in water. Week 5 Electroanalytical methods in environmental analysis - introduction to electroanalytical methods, potentiometry. Week 6 Electroanalytical methods in environmental analysis - polarography / voltammetry. Week 7 Electroanalytical methods in environmental analysis - amperometry, coulometry and electrogravimetry, conductometry. Week 8 Separation methods in environmental analysis - introduction to separation methods, gas chromatography. Week 9 Separation methods in environmental analysis - liquid chromatography, planar chromatography. Week 10 Electroseparation methods in environmental analysis - isotachophoresis, electrophoresis. Week 11 Optical methods in environmental analysis - introduction to optical methods. Week 12 Optical methods in environmental analysis - methods in which there is an exchange of energy between radiation and analyzed substance - X-ray spectrometry, AES, AAS, AFS, MAS-UV / VIS. Week 13 Optical methods in environmental analysis - methods in which there is no energy exchange between radiation and analyzed substance - refractometry, turbidimetry, nephelometry. Instrumental identification methods organic matter. Labs Week 1 Introduction to the subject, getting to know the principles of good laboratory practice and work safety. Week 2 Introduction to laboratory data processing Week 3 Sampling Week 4 Quantitative determination of basic parameters of water quality (COD, chlorides, ..). Week 5 Determination of water neutralization capacity Week 6 Determination of selected parameters in waters using portable field analyzers. Week 7 Determination of CO2 in the air using the ECOPROBE 5 portable analyzer. Week 8 Voltammetric determination of heavy metals in waste water Week 9 Spectrophotometric determination of nitrogen oxides in immissions Week 10 Determination of selected volatile organic compounds by gas chromatography Week 11 Determination of pharmaceuticals in waste water and pharmaceutical preparations using HPLC Week 12 Determination of nitrates by FIA method Week 13 Test

Learning outcomes
|
The course deals with the determination of harmful substances in the air and in drinking, surface and wastewater. In addition to the application of modern instrumental methods, attention is paid to sampling and separation techniques. Knowledge is deepened in seminars, focused mainly on calculations.
Ability to work independently in monitoring the quality of individual components of the environment, especially water and air.
