Course content
Safety in chemical lab, safety during work with energetic materials. Chemical literature. Aromatic nitration. Thin layer chromatography (TLC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), infrared spectroscopy (IR), ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). Colour reactions in identification of energetic materials. 2,4,6-Trinitrochlorbenzene preparation and its use in the synthesis of thermally stable polynitrocompounds.

Learning outcomes
To introduce safety precautions during the work with energetic materials To introduce how to work with chemical literature and to use properly present information sources. To introduce selected reactions used in the synthesis of energetic materials and their possible characterisation.
To work safely with energetic materials. To know how to find information about energetic materials in chemical literature. To choose the method of characterisation of energetic materials.
